Officials with the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) Foundation have announced the foundation has been awarded $47,000 in grant funding from the Bon Secours Health System Mission Fund.
The monies received will be utilized to support OLBH’s school nurse program at Heritage and Prichard elementary schools in Carter County. Nurse Bobbi Jo Utley has been employed by OLBH for two years and between the two schools has approximately 700 children under her care. Through OLBH’s school nurse program, Utley cares for everything from scrapes to heart pains, and provides students with services such as health screenings, immunizations and routine physicals.
“The OLBH Foundation is proud of this grant award and our partnership with Heritage and Prichard,” Chuck Charles, vice president of the OLBH Foundation, said. “A strong school nursing program increases student body health and reduces absenteeism. The students love Bobbi Jo and she has done a wonderful job with these children.”
